SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS. Not widely known is the fact that aluminium does not burn. It is classed as non-combustible by the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea. Nor does it give off any smoke or toxic gases when heated, nor produce sparks upon low impact. Aluminium is as safe as it is practical and attractive.

FURTHER ENVIRONMENTAL ADVANTAGES. Aluminium marina systems are recyclable: aluminium is recyclable raw and in high demand; the plastics used in floats and composite decking can be recycled and re-used; and wooden decking is biodegradable. It’s interesting to note that aluminium is one of the most advantageous materials for recycling in terms of both energy and economy.

DURABILITY: NEED PROOF? LOOK BACK AT THE RECORDS. In 1987, after Hurricane Hugo devastated South Carolina, a thorough independent study of marina damage was carried out. Its conclusion: the pontoon system that performed best was the aluminium frame with wood decking. Time and again Caribbean hurricanes highlight the multiple advantages of well-built, superior-quality aluminium marina systems.

NOW LOOK FORWARD IN TIME. Many experts agree that the world is entering an era of extreme weather – more storms of greater magnitude, starting earlier in the year and finishing later. Wise buyers of hurricane-resistant marinas, and marina owners rebuilding after storm damage, know that aluminium docks are not all alike. These buyers select aluminium-structure floating systems built by the team with unmatched experience and expertise – the Structurmarine team. Still not convinced?
