POINTE DE PENOUILLE PROMENADE
FORILLON NATIONAL PARK, QUEBEC

Located within the protected coastal environment of Pointe de Penouille in Forillon National Park, this pedestrian and cyclist promenade was developed to provide safe public access to one of Québec’s most distinctive natural landscapes while preserving the ecological integrity of the site. The project required a solution capable of integrating seamlessly into a sensitive environment characterized by beaches, salt marshes, and fragile coastal ecosystems.

Structurmarine designed, manufactured, and supplied a lightweight elevated infrastructure system specifically adapted to the environmental constraints of the location. The project features a 14-metre-diameter circular aluminum observation platform connected by an aluminum access gangway, creating a unique viewpoint that allows visitors to experience the surrounding landscape with minimal impact on the natural setting. A pile-supported anchoring system was selected to reduce disturbance to the protected area while providing long-term structural stability. Composite wood decking was incorporated to deliver a durable, low-maintenance walking surface that complements the natural character of the site.

The lightweight aluminum structures played a key role in the project's success, facilitating transportation, handling, and installation within a protected area where construction activities and site access were carefully managed. Designed for long-term performance in a demanding coastal environment, the promenade demonstrates how innovative engineering solutions can balance accessibility, durability, and environmental stewardship, creating infrastructure that enhances the visitor experience while respecting the unique ecological value of Pointe de Penouille.
