WATER TRANSPORT STATION
LUSAIL MARINA, QATAR

The Water Transport Station at Lusail Marina was designed and built to support safe, efficient, and comfortable marine transportation operations within one of Qatar’s iconic waterfront developments. Conceived as both a functional and architectural floating structure, the station reflects Structurmarine’s expertise in marine engineering, industrial fabrication, and the delivery of solutions tailored to local environmental and operational constraints.

The structure is centered around a 5 m by 12.5 m floating platform connected to shore by a 2.5 m by 20 m gangway, providing smooth access for passengers and operators. With a nominal freeboard of 500 mm and a buoyancy capacity of 300 kg/m², the system ensures long-term stability and reliable performance. Polyethylene floats filled with EPS were selected for durability, while the steel pile and pile-guide anchoring system allows the structure to accommodate water-level variations.

User safety and comfort were key drivers in the design. The gangway features anti-slip decking, while the main dock is finished with 25 mm composite decking in a cedar appearance. A continuous fender protects vessels during berthing operations. Integrated utility troughs beneath the gangway and pontoon decking allow for discreet routing of services. High-tension membrane roof structures provide essential sun protection over the pontoon, gangway, and fuel dispensers. Ambiance lighting, a misting system, and fully integrated operational equipment, including an SOS bollard, power pedestals, a fire-fighting cart, and petrol and diesel dispensers, complete this modern and fully equipped water transport hub.
